I'm a 21-year-old Black American artist of French Creole descent from Atlanta, Georgia. My practice spans painting, graphic design, videography, photography, and creative direction, allowing me to tell stories across multiple mediums. Through my work, I explore identity, culture, and the human experience while creating visuals that invite personal interpretation.
Artist Bio
Brycesonova is a 21-year-old Black American artist of French Creole descent from Atlanta, Georgia. Working across painting, graphic design, photography, videography, and creative direction, his multidisciplinary practice centers on Black storytelling through portraiture, symbolism, and layered imagery. Using mixed media, expressive mark-making, and text, Brycesonova explores themes of identity, memory, emotion, and the human experience. His work embraces visible process and imperfection, inviting viewers to form their own interpretations while engaging with narratives of growth, transformation, and culture.
Artist Statement
My work explores identity, memory, and the emotions that shape the way we see ourselves and each other. Through portraiture, symbolism, layered imagery, and text, I tell stories that often begin with personal experiences but are meant to be interpreted in different ways by every viewer.
I work primarily with acrylic, spray paint, charcoal, oil stick, and collage, allowing each material to leave its own mark. I embrace visible layers, texture, and imperfections because they become part of the story, revealing growth, struggle, and transformation rather than hiding the process.
As a Black American artist of French Creole descent with southern roots, storytelling is ingrained in all my work. I am interested in creating paintings that invite people to slow down, question what they see, and discover meaning through symbols, quotes, and emotion instead of giving a single answer.
